Winner of 1 star in Great Taste Awards 2019
Shawlands F.B.O.P. comes from the Shawlands Tea Estate. This estate lies on the southern slopes of Madulsima hill range, within the altitude range of 792 m to 1,173 m (2598- 3848 ft) above the sea level. We have chosen this tea, that has been specially selected for Robert Wilson’s Ceylon Teas, because it is a wonderful example of the uniqueness of a great Uva tea.
The Uva region has unique physical and climatic aspects compared to the rest of the island’s tea-planting districts. For this reason, it is considered by some to be one of the most beautiful regions in Sri Lanka. After the monsoon a strong, dehydrating wind blows over the region. This is called the Cachan wind and it provides the perfect conditions to produce the extraordinary flavour that is unique to the Uva region. It is why Uva teas are so special, and why Shawlands F.B.O.P. deserves to be included in our range of high quality single-estate teas.
These teas are manufactured at midnight, because the cooler temperatures during manufacturing help to develop the volatile flavour oils, These traditional methods produce a rounded liquor, with a light red-brown colour, and a delicate flowery flavour.
We are delighted to be able to share this amazing Ceylon tea with you.
